Peter Von. The Wizard In His Workshop.

Peter Von Czarnecki is a former newspaper artist turned art and antique restorer and inventor, collector and creator of beautiful things. Peter's association with the Pancake Parlour began over thirty years ago when he was the second customer in the first Pancake Parlour in Adelaide. Peter kindly offered to create a menu for us (we didn't have one) and he's been creating for us ever since. Since then Peter has produced our advertising, including the design of our Lovely Lady logo and has built over a dozen of his incredible creations.

Peter Von Czarnecki
King of The Scrap-Metal Yard

Peter graduated from art school in Adelaide then joined the Adelaide Advertiser as a copy boy along side the now-famed cartoonist Pat Oliphant.

Often, newspaper articles about Peter's inventions, compare Peter's contraptions to the inventions and devices of Heath Robinson. An example of  Heath Robinson's work can be seen along with a few of Peter Von's projects that are still on the drawing board.

Our famous Granny coming in to land at Forest Hill.

Like all Peter Von creations, "Granny" began with a journey to a scrap metal yard. The "treasure" this time was a vast quantity of aluminium tubing. The propellers came from "some sort of food processing machine", the propeller hubs were once differential housings and motorcycle sprockets. Granny sits earing leather boots in a Victorian Oak wheelchair from where she steers the plane "constantly correcting it in a vague indeterminate manner" with a steering wheel adapted from a old washing-machine drive pulley.
