Allergens

Question

What is the Allergen Table?

Answer

The Pancake Parlour has attempted to identify ingredients that may cause an allergic reaction. However, we cannot guarantee ingredients do not contain any of the allergenic substances as we have open kitchens where there is a possibility that cross-contamination could occur.

Question

Is the table 100% accurate?

Answer

While we have analysed our ingredients for food allergens, there is the possibility that suppliers could change the formulation or substitute ingredients at any time without notice. Customers concerned with food allergies need to be aware of this risk. The Pancake Parlour will not assume any liability for adverse reactions to foods consumed or items one may come in contact with while eating at any Pancake Parlour Restaurant.

Question

How do I read the table?

Answer

There is a key at the bottom of the table which explains the symbols. Basically the item containing the allergen is indicated with a tick. If there is a dash - the item does not contain that allergen.

Question

Can the menu item with the allergen be removed?

Answer

Unfortunately changes or substitutions cannot be made.

Question

What does CCR mean?

Answer

This stands for Cross Contamination Risk. CCR means certain ingredients may have been cross-contaminated by our supplier with that allergen/item during the manufacturing process. An example of this is cross contamination via processing on the same equipment that has been in contact with an allergen previously. Traces of that allergen may still be present so it would be best to avoid this menu item if you have an allergy to it.

Question

Is the menu item free of the allergen if there is no tick or CCR stated in that column?

Answer

We can never 100% guarantee the item is allergen free. It does mean we have not used that allergen as an ingredient but we cannot guarantee it has not been contaminated in our open kitchens.

Question

What is the additional information column?

Answer

This column contains other allergens/chemicals which we were not required to include on the table but thought would benefit our customers to know. It also gives further information if a CCR has been identified for a particular item in a group.
